Johnsons Garden Buildings are Kent’s largest independent retailer and installer of top quality garden rooms and timber buildings. We currently have 13 display villages, all situated in busy garden centres across Kent, Surrey, Essex, London and Hampshire exhibiting our vast range of our popular garden buildings. We specialise in offering our customers the perfect space solution, whether it’s for a home office, family chill out room, gym or even the more traditional summerhouse.

POSITION: Commis Chefs.

LOCATION: Chestfield nr. Whitstable

Here at Johnsons Leisure we are going through some exciting changes and one of these being a new Bistro, which will replace our long-standing café, that has continued to serve our customers old and new over the years.

Our Bistro is aiming to be a first-rate provider of a memorable experience from a team of dedicated, passionate and cheerful individuals, of which you would become a key member.

Enthusiastic and competent Commis Chef’s are required to join our expanding Bistro team on a part time basis to assist the Chef’s as they create dishes from the menu and ensure they reach the customer to a high standard.

The ideal candidates will have experience working within a busy kitchen environment and can remain calm under pressure and assist with continually deliver to a high standard.

National recognised food qualifications are preferable, and a Basic Food Hygiene certificate is a must, but we will be willing to put the right candidates through the basic food hygiene certificate to ensure all out staff have the required minimum qualification.

This is a very exciting opportunity for the right individuals to join a growing, family run business and become involved at the very start of this new venture.

We currently have 3 vacancies for Commis Chefs, covering a shift pattern of 2x 16 or 24 hours, with the opportunity of extra hours throughout the year to cover holiday, sickness, etc.

Starting salary would be £8.13 an hour but can increase after successful reviews throughout the year.

POSITION: Chefs. Bistro

LOCATION: Chestfield nr. Whitstable

Here at Johnsons Leisure we are going through some exciting changes and one of these being a new Bistro, which will replace our long-standing café, that has continued to serve our customers old and new over the years.

Our Bistro is aiming to be a first-rate provider of a memorable experience from a team of dedicated, passionate and cheerful individuals, of which you would become a key member.

An enthusiastic and competent Chef is required to join our expanding Bistro team on a full time/part time basis to create dishes from the menu and ensure they reach the customer to a high standard.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within a busy kitchen environment and has previously demonstrated the ability to remain calm under pressure and continually deliver to a high standard. You should also be competent in on all sections of the kitchen.

National recognised food qualifications are preferable, and a Basic Food Hygiene certificate is a must, but we will be willing to put the right candidates through the basic food hygiene certificate to ensure all out staff have the required minimum qualification.

This is a very exciting opportunity for the right individual and experienced candidates may have the chance to be instrumental in the formulation of new formats and menus.

We currently have 2 vacancies for Chefs, covering a shift pattern of 36 or 27 hours, with the opportunity of extra hours throughout the year to cover holiday, sickness, etc.

Starting salary would be £10.00 an hour, but can increase after successful reviews throughout the year.

POSITION: Front of House. Bistro

LOCATION: Chestfield nr. Whitstable

Our Bistro is aiming to be a first-rate provider of a memorable experience from a team of dedicated, passionate and cheerful individuals, of which you would become a key member.

Enthusiastic, cheerful individuals with good communication skills are required to join our expanding Bistro team on a part time basis to serve our customers, make drinks, take payments, operate the till and above all, give our customers an enjoyable experience.

The ideal candidates will have experience working within a busy Bistro/Restaurant environment and can remain calm and deliver under pressure.

A basic Food Hygiene certificate would be desirable, but we will be willing to put the right candidates through the basic food hygiene certificate to ensure all our staff have the required minimum qualification.

This is a very exciting opportunity for the right individuals to join a growing, family run business and become involved at the very start of our new venture.

We currently have 3 vacancies for Front of House staff, covering weekly hours of 23 and 25 ½, with the opportunity of extra hours throughout the year to cover holiday, sickness, etc.

POSITION: Kitchen Porter. Bistro

LOCATION: Chestfield nr. Whitstable

An enthusiastic and experienced Kitchen porter is required to join our expanding Bistro team on a part time basis to assist the kitchen staff with preparing food and ensuring a high standard of hygiene, participate in cleaning and washing, ensuring that work surfaces are kept clean and tidy at all times and follow other instructions given by the Chef.

The ideal candidates will have experience working within a busy kitchen environment and can remain calm under pressure and assist with continually deliver to a high standard.

National recognised food qualifications are preferable, and a Basic Food Hygiene certificate is a must, but we will be willing to put the right candidates through the basic food hygiene certificate to ensure all out staff have the required minimum qualification.

POSITION: Yards man

LOCATION: Wickford

Johnson’s Leisure, the UK’s leading supplier of top-quality garden buildings, have opened a brand new, industry leading, retail and distribution centre in Wickford and we require an experienced Yards man to join our ever-growing team in February 2019.

This is an exciting time for Johnson’s and for the successful individual who will join our team and become part of our ongoing expansion throughout Kent, Essex and nationally.

On a day to day basis the successful applicant will be required to oversee our satellite distribution centre at Wickford. Day to day duties will include organising and stock controlling the depot, fleet logistic management duties including loading and unloading vehicles and trailers in a timely manner and the implementation of a comprehensive waste management programme, along with any other tasks that arise and fall into the Yards man remit.

 

Experience Required

  • Forklift licence is essential
  • Ability to lift and manoeuvre heavy objects
  • Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team
  • Stock control and stock taking
  • Computer literacy
  • Driving licence is essential due to the nature of this role

 

This is a Permanent, full time position working Monday – Friday,10am – 7pm (With a few later finishes, as and when the business requires).

POSITION: Garden Room Installers

LOCATION: Wickford

Johnsons Leisure, the UK’s leading supplier of top-quality garden buildings, have opened a brand new, industry leading, retail and distribution centre in Wickford. Due to this expansion will offer exciting employment opportunities for the right candidates to join our installation teams and become integral to the continued growth of our brand.

Successful applicants will be working as part of a team to install our garden buildings to customers across the Home Counties. Full training will be given as the role will involve a varied range of construction techniques, from groundwork through to the finishing touches which make our buildings suitable for a multitude of purposes and concepts.

Johnsons offer great rates of pay and attractive bonus and pension schemes and these are full-time, permanent positions with the full range of benefits you would expect from a market leader. Furthermore, Johnsons offer a comprehensive programme of progression and advancement with many of our management team having been recruited internally from ‘shop-floor’ positions.

We are looking to recruit installers to join our already operational team of fitters based in Wickford. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of an expanding family-based business.

 

Key Requirements

  • Groundwork and / or carpentry experience an advantage but not essential
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Pride in your quality and finish of work
  • Ability to communicate professionally with customers
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Full driving license essential, as is your own vehicle for your home to work commute
  • BE Towing Licence is preferred but training can be given

 

The Package

POSITION: Sales Executive

LOCATION: Dunstable

This expansion will offer exciting employment opportunities to the right candidate who joins our Sales team and becomes integral to the continued growth of our brand.

On a day to day you will be assisting the Branch manager at our new Log cabin/hot tub’s show room, where you will be required to build rapport with customers, offer suggestions, discuss options, take payments, set up a finance plan if required, book appointments and general admin duties.

The ideal candidate will have previous Sales and Customer service experience in dealing with the public face to face.

Salary: £25,000 per annum plus uncapped commission, OTE £31,000

Hours: Full Time
